Lish:

make sure that you're learning as much as you can. And let me say this okay, you can learn and walk simultaneously, because we do have a culture of I need to learn, I need to read this book, I need to listen to this guru, I need to watch these, these youtube videos and all that, and you can look up and it's a year later and all you have done is learn, right, right, you can learn as you go. In fact, you will speed up your learning exponentially if you decide to learn as you go. Don't bring no drama my way. Yeah, I might have a great day. Don't bring no drama my way. Don't bring no drama my way. Don't bring no drama my way. What's up, everybody? My name is Lish Speaks and I'm here.

Lish:

Today is our first episode on Holy Culture Radio of my podcast. I'll Just Let Myself In. So welcome, welcome, welcome. I am super excited to be here on Holy Culture Radio of my podcast. I'll Just Let Myself In, so welcome, welcome, welcome. I am super excited to be here on Holy Culture Radio. We're going to be here every Monday night at 8 pm Eastern Standard Time and listen here at I'll Just Let Myself In.

Lish:

Our whole premise is to encourage you to let yourself into your God-given doors. You know, when God has put something on your life for you to do, you don't need to wait for any permission to get there. God has already given you the mechanism and the way to get through those doors, and our desire here is just to encourage you to do that. It's our first episode with Holy Culture. This podcast has been going on for almost a year now, and this partnership with Holy Culture is truly a match made in heaven, because what I do here at I'll Just Let Myself In and what Holy Culture does on Sirius XM Radio, channel 140 is really encourage us to live our best lives in Christ. You know, my desire is for you to be encouraged when you listen to this podcast and for you to make changes that lead to you living a better life. But I'm aware that some of you have no idea who I am and have never heard this podcast before, so let me introduce myself.

Lish:

My name is Lish, I'm also known as Lish Speaks, and I came into relationship with Holy Culture actually through my music. You know, one of the things that I do is I'm a songwriter and a Christian hip hop artist, and so I love music and love what holy culture is doing here. I'm also a wife, a newlywed. I've been married a little under two years, and so I'm enjoying that season of my life. I'm a media personality. I love to do red carpets and interviews with some of your favorites, and you'll see that on my page as well. I'm also an avid sneaker collector. I also love fashion and all things that are hip hop influence.

Lish:

I'm from Brooklyn and so I grew up in New York City, and really it informs a lot of who I am and a lot of what I love and you'll hear that all throughout the podcast but the daughter of two great parents who loved me deeply and taught me a lot, and so all of those things will come into play as you listen to the podcast. You'll learn more about me as I learn more about myself. So we're on this journey together. But those are a few tidbits about who I am. If you want to know more about me, follow me. All my social media handles are at Lish Speaks, that's L-I-S-H-S-P-E-A-K-S, and I try to be as transparent as possible on these social media platforms. But I would love to continue to get to know you all as you continue to get to know me, because we're going to be on this journey together. I would love to continue to get to know you all, as you continue to get to know me, because we're going to be on this journey together. Here I'll just let myself in. It's important that you know some of those things about me, because as you listen to the episodes and you hear some of the things that you know I'm working on, and some of the things that I'm working on even in my character and personality, you'll see how all these things tie in. I'm also the co-founder of Blame Media. My husband and I have a media company where our goal is really to not only put out great content but to help other people who have great ideas and just need a little bit of help and a push to help them get started. And so that's a little bit about myself.

Lish:

Let me tell you a little bit about this podcast. The podcast I'll just let myself in is for anyone who feels like God has something big for them to do. If you feel like God has something for me to do, honestly, even if you feel like it's small because there's no small with God really it's for anyone who's in that space. You know, I started the podcast because there was so much in my heart to do. You know, as I talk through all my different, you know things that I do and things that I'm into and ways that I show up in life. You got to understand. A person like that is always feeling this pressure of needing to grow in this way or needing to be let into these different doors, or needing help to get into these spaces, and there was just a growing conversation online about gatekeepers and us not needing a seat at the table, and I just thought to myself I'll just let myself in. I don't really need. I don't really need to wait any longer, um, and that came after a lot of unnecessary waiting, right, and so I hope that this podcast encourages you to go through your God-given doors.

Lish:

Another thing I forgot to tell y'all about myself is that I'm a huge sneaker head. I love sneakers, um, I love shopping in general. So, lord, deliver me. I'm a huge sneakerhead, I love sneakers. I love shopping in general, so, lord, deliver me. I'm working on it. I'm really working on it, but I'm a huge sneakerhead, love fashion and lifestyle, branding and content, and so one of the segments that we have on this show that we usually get into right away is called what I'm stepping in, and in this segment, I describe and if you're watching, I show you the sneakers that I'm stepping in. So let's get into that segment right now.

Lish:

Today I'm stepping in the Cactus Plant Flea Market Vapor Max that came out in 2019. And let me tell y'all I love this shoe. First of all, I love Nike Vapor Maxax and I feel like Vapormax didn't get the longevity it deserved Like. To me, it is a classic Nike silhouette. It should still be coming out. It kind of got a little trendy and I'm not even sure why, but I love this shoe.

Lish:

First of all, cactus Plant Flea Market is one of the most creative brands that I've seen in the last decade, and so anything that they come out with I pretty much buy. But I love Cactus Plant Flea Market. I love this shoe because it's colorful If you know anything about me even though you can't tell today because I got on a lot of black but generally I'm very colorful. I love a colorful shoe. I love a creative shoe. I love a different shoe. Right, this shoe has a piping on the side, two different colorways. Uh, pretty much on the same shoe, depending on your left foot on your right foot, um, just a great shoe, a fun shoe, a comfortable shoe, even though I feel like I'm gonna have to buy another pair, because I bought these several years ago and I feel like my feet are growing whose feet grow and you know, as you get old it's annoying. But but, I love this shoe. It's a fun shoe, it's a comfortable shoe and it's a shoe that I feel like is really a classic and I feel like it's not oversaturated or overdone, as we say here.

Lish:

I'll just let myself in. If you like them, go get you some, all right? So the premise of our episode today is not only to welcome you. The premise of our episode today is not only to welcome you, but to also help you understand why this podcast will be helpful to you in your life. You know, as we enter this year, you know we're in a new year and as we do, we make these reservations and we have goals and things that we want to accomplish, and it's easy to be excited at the beginning of the year and to feel like I'm going to conquer these things. I'm going to walk through my God-given doors. I want to give you some encouragement that hopefully you'll be able to carry with you through this first quarter, because the truth is, if you can get through January, february and March and keep your goals intact, you're much more likely to actually complete them throughout the year, and I know this to be true for myself. You know, we actually started the planning of this podcast at the end of 2023. And my husband asked me you know, when do you want this to be out? And I said, you know, first quarter, the end of March. By the end of March, the podcast was going and by the end of the year, we had this deal with Holy Culture. So it is.

Lish:

It has been proven in my life that when you stick to your goals Q1, you usually can see them through. But we all know that you can wake up any day. Right, his mercies are new every morning. You can wake up December 10th of next year and decide you want to do something new, and God can bless it. So, hopefully, these, uh, these, these tools I give you, these thoughts, these, these ideas that God has given me, will be helpful to you.

Lish:

You know, the first thing that I want to encourage you to do is ask yourself, if you haven't already, uh, ask yourself what doors do I want to walk through in 2025? You know, I like to think of the endeavors, the creativity, the things that God has put on my heart. I like to think of those things as doors, because when you walk through a door right, it takes a couple of things. One, it takes action. You can't walk through a door by standing at the door. You can't walk through a door by standing at the door. You can't walk through a door by sitting in your car. You have to get up and actually walk through the door. And so when I think about the things that I want to accomplish as doors that I want to walk through, it helps me to remember hey, okay, this is going to take some action to start. You got to do something to start.

Lish:

And walking through a door right is a small thing for your body, but it can take a lot mentally to get there. You know, you ever been going into a place that you're nervous to go into and you, like, have to take a deep breath before you walk in the door, or take a deep breath before you walk out. On that stage right, that's what it can feel like going into the things that you want to accomplish. But if you are sure that that's the door you want to go through, it makes it a little bit easier. You know, another reason that I like to look at the things I want to accomplish as doors to walk through is because when you walk through a door, it is clear that you are in a new space right, that could be a door to a room in your home, right. But when you walk from your living room to the door of your bedroom, it is clear that you are no longer in the living room, right.

Lish:

And so the things that I want to accomplish and I like to think about them as doors, because for me it's clear that I'm going into a different space, and that different space requires or promotes different behavior, right, I'll use the example I just used when I walk out of my living room to my bedroom, my bedroom promotes rest. My living room promotes being social, right, it is a clear difference of what I'm supposed to be doing in that space versus the other space. And the truth is, whenever you walk through a door for something that you wanna do or something that you wanna accomplish or experience in life, it is going to require different behavior. Sometimes that behavior is more difficult. Sometimes that behavior requires a softness and a rest, but it is important to acknowledge the different behavior that it requires, and so there are a few different types of doors that you can walk through in 2025.

Lish:

And as you think through those doors, I want to give you three different ways to categorize them so you can have some a base to start thinking about how you want to walk through those doors. So there are several types of doors you can walk through, but I've broken it down to three types that I think are the most prevalent. The first type is an old school door, that's a door that requires a key. The second type is a new door, that's a door that might require a code or a fingerprint, or even to scan your eye to get in. And the final one is a divine door, that's a door that just automatically opens as you walk up to it. So we're going to go through these three types of doors. I'm going to explain how God can give you the access to walk through any of these types of doors at any given time. So, yeah, the first door, you know that old school door. That door requires a key. That door requires a piece of hardware that has stood the test of time. Right.

Lish:

When I was growing up, you know I was a latchkey kid. I grew up in Brooklyn, as I said earlier, and so I was a latchkey kid, and you know what that meant is, when you got off school, your mom was still at work. So you, or you and your siblings would get home, you open up the door and you call your mom and let your mom know that you're home, right? And as a latchkey kid, you know getting your own key was a huge deal, right, it was a big deal because you had to keep this key. You couldn't lose this key, and I remember my mom giving me a speech when I got my key, like, don't lose this key. You know you need to be responsible and telling me what the key meant.

Lish:

And so when I think about doors that need keys, I think about doors that need tried and true principles for you to get through. These are old school doors. These are doors that listen. You can't fake the funk, right? You got to work on the things you actually need to work on to get through these doors. And so when I think about some of the things that I want to accomplish, right, and I think about some of the doors that I want to go through. Things like health and wellness right, there's no cheat code to that. There are certain principles and disciplines you have to develop in order to make it through those doors. Certain levels of success right, there are things you have to develop to make it through those doors.

Lish:

What are some of the old school, or things we will call old school, practices? You know things like mentorship making sure that you have someone who's helping you to navigate the waters of what you're trying to go through. One of my keys in this life of mine is making sure that I have mentorship and accountability. These are tried and true things that ain't going nowhere, right? People been having mentors and accountability since the beginning of time. Right, we see it in the Bible. This is an old school key that kind of helps me to stay grounded in the things that I want to accomplish. Going through new doors is scary, but it's much more attainable and you can feel much more self-assured when you know that you have the key.

Lish:

Growing up, people would say, if you needed to get into their house, I'll put the key under the mat, or I'll put the key in this rock or I'll. You know my grandmother. She used to throw a key downstairs if the front door to her building was locked for us to get in. The point is, you wasn't getting in without that key. And there are things that we want in our lives, be it material or emotional or mental or spiritual, that we are not going to get if we don't use our old school key.

Lish:

Right, if we don't use our old school key, if we don't go back, reach back, learn principles that stand the test of time, learn principles that have helped every successful person be successful, we won't get it. You know, sometimes we act like we're just so different, right? And the more I listen, to, read, talk to people who are successful, I realize, yeah, there are some people who have unfair advantages, there are some people who, you know, have a different path, but for the most part, people who are successful did the same few things and I take those as keys to my development. You know, people who are successful generally are sacrificial with their time for the thing that they're trying to be successful with. They have sacrificed a lot of other things for that thing. People who are successful are often disciplined. People who are successful often get advice and have accountability. These are just old school keys that you can't get around.

Lish:

The biggest old school key is work ethic. Right, work ethic is something that I think generations have been. We've been trained to try to find our way out of working hard. Right, and some of that is really good. We're going to talk about that with the new door, right.

Lish:

But even with all the tools that we have right, all the internet I think about growing up. We had to look through encyclopedias for information. Right, all the internet. I think about growing up we had to look through encyclopedias for information. I'm aging myself. I'm aging myself right now.

Lish:

But you know, my grandmother and my mother had bookcases of encyclopedias and sometimes we would need L you know the letter L for a project, and then it would be in my grandma's house. We're like, oh man, we left L at my grandmother's house, like you know, like legit. Right Now we have the internet and we could get anything we need. But guess what you still have to do? You still have to do the research. There is still a level of work ethic that has to go into being successful. You know, the sad thing about it is, with all the information that we have now, it can be so overwhelming that you know we can do less research than people did in times before us.

Lish:

But one of those old school keys for me is work ethic. There's no way I don't care how smart you are, how many people help you, what you got going on, if you don't work hard, you will not succeed. For long you may get there, but you will not be able to stay there. So that's one of those old school doors. You know the new doors and this is my favorite door right now, because it's just so much fun the new door requires some technology or something that you may not completely understand yet. You know, when I first started seeing people use codes to get indoors, I was like that's pretty cool. Then I started seeing people use fingerprints to get indoors, and then I've even seen some people have to scan their eye or scan their face to get into the door. And I just want you to know I'm working on some things in my life. You know, in the next year or so I'm going to be building a magnificent closet. I told you guys I was a sneakerhead and loved clothes, and let me tell you you won't be getting in that door with a key. Something will be scanned for you to access my clothes, because it is a prized possession.

Lish:

But I think about doors that you have to enter through in this way as new doors, because the truth is these doors require you to open your mind in order to get through them. And there's so much about the mind. I just did an episode not too long ago about the mind that'll be airing here. But the Bible encourages us in the book of Romans to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Lish:

And there are so many people who have a hard time accessing new doors because they won't expand their minds, they won't change the way that they do things or they're afraid of doing something new. You know, when I think about you know older generations I'm not putting my fingerprint on no door, I'm not scanning my face to go through no door, and there's a there's a fear of the unknown, but the truth is those ways do provide a heightened level of security. Those ways do provide a heightened level of security Sometime, when God is trying to allow us to go through new doors. It's scary at first, but once you get through it, you understand that nothing can knock this down right. No one, the enemy, cannot penetrate this. This is anointed and I think about that with new doors, because I really do believe that. I really do believe when the scripture says God is doing a new thing. Right, he's always doing a new thing, and so, for me, these new doors require me to think differently. They require me to be willing to learn new things.

Lish:

You know, how much time are you spending researching and learning what's new, what's going on in technology? What's going on in the world? How much time are you spending trying to be an asset to the direction that things are going in, as opposed to being so stuck in what you know? Stuck in what you know, using tools that can help you navigate the new world will really free you up and give you time to be more creative and think about things differently. You know AI is doing what AI is here to do, and you can either be afraid of it or you can learn it as best you can and use it to your advantage.

Lish:

I think about how we felt about social media several years ago. You know how people felt about influencers several years ago, and to see where those billion dollar companies and campaigns are now, it helps me to understand that the best thing we can do specifically as Christians in the body of Christ is use these things to elevate the body of Christ. The longer we spend being afraid of them, not investing in them, not researching them, the more of a disservice we do. You know the kids are on the internet. That's where they're at. You know, so many churches and places are afraid to really invest and be on the Internet and we, yet we want to reach the youth. That's a new door you can go through. Yes, it's going to take some training. Yes, it's going to take some research. Yes, it's going to take some technology. But the truth is it's a door that is so profitable and is going to help so many people If we just decide to go through it.

Lish:

Here's the scary thing about going through new doors, and this is, you know, the truth in doing anything new, you might be really bad at it at first. You might really not do well. And for people who are used to going through that old school door right, there's some of us. We got work ethic down. We out out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out, out out. I'm like well, what if I put the code in and the code don't work? What if the thing dies and it won't scan my hand or scan my fingerprint? So give me, just give me a regular key right. And we can feel that way.

Lish:

Even with our endeavors, it can be scary to start something new. You know, when I started this podcast less than a year ago, it was scary. It was scary because there were so many things and there are so many things about the world of podcasting, about the world of media, that I still don't know and that I'm still learning, and I realized that I could either let those fears stop me I can let fear of the unknown stop me. I can let fear of the unknown make me worried. I can let fear of the unknown make me procrastinate Come on, somebody right or I could do my due diligence to learn as much as I could to grow in confidence. See, the beauty of opening and going through a new door is that you will get the confidence that you need by learning as much as you can about what's behind that door and what it takes to get through that door. I'm able to show up in confidence in new spaces a lot of times, not because I know everything, but because I know I have done my very best to prepare to be in that space In 2025,. As you try to figure out what new doors to walk through, make sure that you're doing the work to prepare to walk through those doors. Make sure that you're learning as much as you can. And let me say this okay, you can learn and walk simultaneously, because we do have a culture of I need to learn, I need to read this book, I need to listen to this guru, I need to watch these YouTube videos and all that, and you can look up and it's a year later and all you have done is learn. Right, you can learn as you go. In fact, you will speed up your learning exponentially if you decide to learn as you go, and so I want to encourage someone who wants to walk through a new door a door that's going to require them to change some of their things, a door that's going to require them to learn some new things not to be afraid, but to commit to walk through that new door.

Lish:

The third door is a divine door and I know I said the last one was my favorite because it's fun, but this door feels the best to me. This is a divine door that just opens for you automatically as you walk up to it. You know, I love to shop, as I said earlier, and one of the best inventions that was ever made is automatic doors, because when you're shopping and you got a whole lot of bags in your hands and you're walking and you're doing your thing, there's nothing better than walking up to a door and it just opens for you. You know I call this divine door because this door has so much to do with your proximity where you are. An automatic door can't open for me if I'm still in the parking lot or even if I'm 15 feet back. I have to get a certain measurement of feet away from the door for it to actually react to my presence. I love this whole idea.

Lish:

Darius Daniels shout out to Dr Darius Daniels. He talked about this in a sermon one time and he talked about how our proximity to what God has for us can determine how quickly doors open for us. You know, in this divine door there are things that you're going to get unmerited, unmerited favor, things you don't think you're ready for things you don't know if you deserve rooms that you're not sure that you need to be in. But God is going to say uh-uh, the door's open, walk through. You know how silly would it look for someone to just be standing at an automatic door trying to use a key, trying to use a code, and the door just study, sliding open and shut in front of their face. We'd be like is everything okay? Go ahead and walk. Go ahead and walk through the door. Some of us, if you're a New Yorker, would be annoyed. You're in the way. Move, walk through the door.

Lish:

You know, the truth of the matter is, when God is opening a divine door for you, you still have a choice. You still have to decide to actually walk into the new space. And so many of us are standing at divine doors and we don't even know it, we can't even detect the motion because we're either afraid, desensitized or so used to being disappointed that we can't tell that it's a new day. You know, the Bible talks about God doing a new thing and it says do you not perceive it? This reminds me of that scripture. You got to perceive that the divine automatic door is opening in front of you and you know, the best thing about this automatic door is that it really has very little to do with who you are, whether or not you're going to be successful, whether or not it has so much to do with you going where you're supposed to go. When I walk through Target and the door opens for me automatically, the door doesn't know if I'm going to purchase anything. The door don't know if I'm going to spend $5 or $5,000. All the door knows is I've walked up to it and it has to let me in.

Lish:

You know, there are opportunities that I've gotten and that I'm going to get in Jesus name, that have very little to do with me or my skill or my ability or my talent and have everything to do with the fact that when God told me to walk up to it, I walked up to it. When God told me to walk through it, I walked through it. This is what this podcast is really all about. Okay, this is what we talk about here Walking through those doors, walking up to those doors, not talking yourself out of the blessing that God has over your life. We trick ourselves out of the blessing all the time by telling ourselves what we think we are or are not, when the truth is, if you really want to know what something is or isn't, you need to talk to the manufacturer, which is God. Right, god is who tells us who we are and who we aren't, what we need and what we don't.

Lish:

In 2025, I want to push you, urge you, encourage you, almost command you, to start walking up to the doors and just see if they open. See, you'll be surprised. You know, there are opportunities that I've gotten that I really didn't even feel like I deserved, but as soon as the opportunity came, I said, oh, god feels like I deserve it. All right, well, I deserve it. Period, let's get it. You know what I mean. There are things that God has done in my life, people who he's put me in my life, people who he's put me in connection with, people who he's put me in rooms with, and I've thought to myself I don't have the following for this opportunity, I don't have the numbers for this opportunity. But God said here is a door that I am opening for you because I know the future. I know that this is where you're supposed to be.

Lish:

You know, when you see these automatic doors open in your life, things shock you. Things come up, money comes out of nowhere, opportunity comes out of nowhere. Don't waste your time. Don't waste your time self-sabotaging. Don't waste your time overthinking. Don't waste your time even over planning. Just walk. Just walk through the door. Just decide that you're going to be obedient, because I promise you on the other side of you, putting one foot in front of the other is a beautiful thing. You know, walking into this relationship with holy culture is a divine door for me. You know, walking into this relationship with holy culture is a divine door for me. It's a divine door because the truth of the matter is being on this station right now you hearing my voice right now was ordained by God.

Lish:

There are so many reasons why this should not be happening, but there are also so many reasons why it is happening, and one of the reasons that is happening is because I walked up to the door of this opportunity in the way I showed up in my podcast. Right, I showed up in a way that was as professional as I can afford. And even if you go back and look at my YouTube channel you look at my old music videos I always say I show up as professionally as I can afford to. I'm going to give you the best quality that I can afford to give you. I'm going to do my very best every time Guess what That'll open a door, because God will see that he can trust you with different opportunities.

Lish:

You know, one of the things that I think is really helpful when it comes to these three different types of doors right, all three of these doors take action. They take action. If you're going to use a key, you got to still walk up to the door, put the key in the door, open the door. Sometimes there's several different locks that require one or two different keys. Right, it may take some work, you may have to think through some things, but it requires action. The electronic door, the new door, that requires action. You got to put a code in. You got to put your finger there, you got to let it scan your face. That requires you going up to the door. The automatic door, even the easiest of them all, requires you walking up to it and then walking through it.

Lish:

You know, here I'll just let myself, in my deepest hope. My deepest hope is to encourage, encourage someone to stop waiting for an imaginary permission slip to go on the trip of life. Go, do many things, live many different lives. You know there's no such thing as too late, there's no such thing as too early. You can try different things early. You can try different things. God has so much inside of each one of us, and what a tragedy it would be to make it to heaven, see his face and him say man, I had so much more for you to do there on earth. I wish you would have been tapped into that.

Lish:

You know, I always say this, and I've heard many other people who I admire say this I want to die empty. I want to die with everything that God put inside of me, out Every person he wanted me to reach, every opportunity he wanted me to take, every piece of content he wanted me to make right. Something as simple as that. I want to die empty because to me, that is the true definition of being a living sacrifice. And so my encouragement to you today is to let yourself in. Let yourself into that new field that you know nothing about but that always piques your interest every time you see it come across your screen, but that always piques your interest every time you see it come across your screen. Let yourself into that new relationship that you're terrified to love again because the last time hurt you and messed you. Let yourself into that. Let yourself into that new friend group or that new church or that new job that you're afraid or worried about letting yourself into. Let yourself into new habits and patterns of thought about who you are and who the people that you love are. Give yourself the gift of freedom to enter new spaces.

Lish:

We often end our podcast here with a question, and that question is in the grand scheme of things, and that question is in the grand scheme of things what do you want your legacy to be? When it comes to this topic, when it comes to this podcast and really my brand at large, my heart at large? I want my legacy to be that I helped people open up the doors that they didn't know how to get through. I want my legacy to be that I help people realize that getting into those doors, getting into these spaces, getting into new opportunities and new patterns of thought is difficult but not impossible. And ultimately, I want my legacy to be that I led people to see themselves the way that God sees them. I hope that you really enjoyed our first episode of.
