I'll Just Let Myself In
Mind Shift for 2025 - Into New Territory
Stepping into new territory isn't just about change; it's about redefining how we perceive growth and opportunity. Join me, Lish Speaks, as I recount the transformations of the last 18 months and share how personal style, symbolized by my favorite Jordan Retro 2 Chicagos, inspires confidence in facing the unknown. We'll explore the art of embracing life's transitions without the need for perfection or external validation, focused on the scripture Isaiah 43:18-19 to remind us of the profound freedom found in being consistent and trustworthy.
Life's new seasons demand a fresh mindset and a willingness to let go of the past. I'll discuss how my perspective shifted through challenging times, aided by scriptures like Ephesians 4:22-23 and Romans 12:2, which emphasize the renewal of the mind. As we learn to adapt to God's directions, we'll talk about the importance of surrounding ourselves with supportive people who understand and appreciate our journey. We'll also highlight the power of recognizing opportunities with renewed perception, allowing us to walk confidently through the doors God has opened.
Together, let's embrace the abundance around us and acknowledge the vital support systems that elevate our lives. By sharing personal stories of gratitude and growth, including insights from my audacious young cousin who successfully secured a significant raise, we'll uncover the transformative power of a changed perspective. As we prepare to expand our reach with Holy Culture Radio, we celebrate this new chapter of empowerment and inspiration, inviting you to join us every Monday night on this exciting, faith-driven adventure.

What's up Everybody, it's your girl. Lish Speaks. Welcome to another episode of. I'll Just Let Myself In.
Lish:The podcast where we don't wait for anyone to give us permission to walk through our God-given doors, we let ourselves in. I always like to say if you can let yourself into a place, that means the door is open or the mechanism to open the door is around. The key is under the rock or under the mat right. The door is around, the key is under the rock or under the mat right. And so God has given us so many opportunities where we can let ourselves in and we often let people stop us and we let ourselves stop us from going through those doors. So here I'll just let myself and I like to remind people and encourage people to go through their God-given doors. If this is your first time listening to our podcast, welcome to the family. Prepare to be encouraged, prepare to be a little challenged, but know that you're going to walk away, hopefully and prayerfully, with fresh perspective about the things that God wants you to do in your life. Listen, today's episode is entitled Into New Territory and I'm hype about it because I'm stepping into new territory in a bunch of new ways and I know that at any given time, all of us are right on the cusp of stepping into a new season, into a new territory. So I'm excited to give us some practicals and kind of talk about some things that I'm learning in this season to help us with that.
Lish:But first you guys know, if you're regulars here, we got one of the best segments in podcasting and it's called what I'm Stepping In, where I tell you about the sneakers that I have on that day and what I love about them. Today I have on the Jordan Retro 2 Chicagos they came back out in 2022. And Jordan 2s I feel like they're like either love or hate sneaker, right. It's so funny because on the sneakers app, if you love sneakers, you know some sneakers are very hard to get. I never have a problem getting Jordan 2s and I love them right, because I think that they're a really cool shoe. I think that they are a comfortable shoe, for me at least, and Jordan brand really tried in 2022 to bring them back to life.
Lish:We had a couple of different colorways um, red, green, a real nice white colorway, white and like silver colorway that came out, or gray rather, that came out. Um, I got on the, the, the Chicago, so the black and red joints right now. But, um, j Balvin did a collab with them. I think union LA did a collab with them. I want to say I'm on, yeah, I did a collab with Jordan twos and they kind of felt a little flat, but for me, I wear what I like. I don't you know, go based on what everybody else loves. So I'm really a Jordan two person. I enjoy them very much. You'll see them a couple of times if you, if you watch the podcast, because I was having a good time in them. So that's what I'm stepping in today Jordan, retro, chicago twos that came back out in 2022. And y'all know how we do If you like them, get you some, all right, y'all.
Lish:So, like I said, today we're talking about stepping into new territory, stepping into new seasons, and you know, this is a time in my life where I really do feel like God is making it very clear that he's moving me somewhere else. There are times when you go through transition and you go through a change of season and you don't always recognize exactly what's happening, because things are happening either very quickly or so slowly that you feel like nothing is changing at all. And I feel like for the last 18 months of my life, so many things have happened, but they were years in the making, and so I feel like I'm mature enough to really see the transition and see the person that God is changing me into. I remember talking to a friend of mine a couple of months ago and I told her I was like I don't know that I'm the person that I need to be. I don't know that I'm the person that I'm supposed to be to walk into what I'm ordained to walk in right now, but I'm going to walk and since I said that, I have actually seen myself transform into the person or the type of person that belongs in the spaces that God is putting me in.
Lish:So I'm excited to share some of my takeaways, some of the things I've been learning with you guys and some of the things that I think will help us all when it's time to step into a new season. Listen, there's a scripture, obviously because you know that we read the Bible over here at this good old podcast. So there's a scripture, obviously because you know that we read the Bible over here at this good old podcast. So there's a scripture. That's been kind of anchoring me through this time and it's really been allowing me to remember that there are steps to getting into the new season. There are lots of different ways you can go about stepping into new territory. I'm going to try to break down three that have really been resonating with me. But it is really important that when God is placing you in a new season, you know, you recognize it, you allow it and you go with it.
Lish:One of the things I've learned that in this season of my life it is not the season for me to be trying to make anybody get it Right. I made a post recently on my Instagram about you know, when you have to convince somebody to come with you on your journey, you will have to convince them to stay. And how many times do you want to keep having that conversation along your journey? You know it's a time in my life where God is telling me to move and anything that I waste time on is a detriment to what he's handing to me, and I have squandered different things in my life, different opportunities, trying to make it make sense to others and myself. And I'm finally understanding that I don't have to do any of that in this season. And, when I tell you, it has revolutionized the pace at which I'm moving, where I don't feel like I'm rushing and I'm out of alignment, but I'm focused and I'm doing more than I'm talking about doing, and so I'm really grateful for just growth.
Lish:It's hard for me even to recognize myself sometimes with how productive I've become. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a daydreamer. I'm up in the clouds, honey, I'm just. You know 17 ideas every minute and just wishing and hoping and I'll get some stuff done right. I do like to execute and like to see things through, but it's difficult for me sometimes to stay grounded and I feel like in this season, the biggest transition I've seen in my character is that I've been grounded. I've been doing things in a way that shows God that he can trust me with these opportunities, that he can trust me with responsibility, that he can trust me with growth, that I'm ready to grow.
Lish:Do I feel stretched? Yes, honey, stretch Armstrong. It's giving. It's giving Stretch Armstrong. It's a lot going on. I definitely feel stretched. I definitely feel like I cannot show up in mediocrity. I don't feel like I can show up in any form of laziness, but I do feel like I can show up in my humanity. God always makes room for humanity. He doesn't need me to be perfect, but he does need me to do my best, and he's shown me over and over again that my best is really good, like it's really good, and I don't say that in any form of arrogance, because it took me a long time to believe that. I still struggle to believe that, if I'm being honest. But he's showing me through different relationships and conversations and just different things that's happening right now in my life, that my best is good, and so I need to really, really not forfeit good for trying to be great, trying to overdo it or overcompensate or overthink, or I just need to show up giving my best consistently, and so that's what I've been doing.
Lish:The scripture that I was referencing earlier is a scripture that is not new to you. If you had grown up in church, if you, you know, ingest a lot, of, a lot of Christian content, this is nothing new to you, and the good thing about that is that we need repetition. So it is never my goal to come on this podcast and say something that you've never heard before and just blow your mind. The Bible is nothing that's new under the sun. That ain't my goal. My goal is, hopefully, to remind you of something that is already inside of you, something that you already believe, something that you already have some conviction about, or perhaps give you a different perspective about something that you may have been seeing wrong the scriptures in Isaiah 43, verse 18 and 19.
Lish:This scripture is so good. It says forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up. Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams, in the wasteland. Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams, in the wasteland. Do you not perceive it? That's one of the hardest lines in the whole Bible. It's so convicting to me because what it tells me is that your perception can make you miss a new thing Simply your perception. The Lord says I am doing a new thing. Do you not perceive it? And so we're going to talk a little bit today about three different areas we can focus on when it comes to new seasons, particularly so that we can perceive them when they come. You know, the first one for me is what do I need to forget? The scripture says forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I'm doing a new thing. It's in the scripture for a reason.
Lish:See, sometime God is trying to move us into a new place, into a new season, and we are stuck, not in something, but on something. Right. Right, the relationship could have ended, but your mind is on it every day. You can't stop thinking about it. Right, the job may have ended, but your mind is on how unfair it was that you got fired, or how much this or that. You know your, your mind is still on it. You know there are friendships and things that God is like. It's time for you to move on. It's time for you to let that go. It's time for you to let maybe that form of the friendship go. Maybe you don't need to cut the person off completely which I think our generation is a little bit too gung ho about cutting people off but maybe the type of relationship you have with that person is not going to work for the season that God is trying to bring you in, and you refuse to forget it. You just refuse to forget it. You know. Ask yourself if you are ready to move into a new season, if you feel like God is moving into a new season.
Lish:What things do I refuse to forget? Because the truth is they are distractions. It's a distraction, you know, whether it be friendships, relationships, self-doubt things. You tell yourself, right, what do I need to forget about the story? I tell myself, we'll get into that a little bit later, but what do I need to forget? What are some of the things that I need to get off my mind? What are some of the things I need to pray to forget?
Lish:You know, sometimes, in order to really forget something, you've got to change your territory. You can't keep hanging around your ex and wanting to get that relationship off your mind. Check this. You can't keep stalking your ex's social media. Catch it, hold that somebody. You ain't speak to this man in a year and a half, but you check his social media every other day. And you check the new girlfriend's social day and you check the girlfriend's social media, the new girlfriend's social media and you check his mama's social media. Forget. Forget. You're tormenting yourself by doing that.
Lish:You know you're looking at old things that you used to do and things that you used to have and stressing yourself out about who you used to do and things that you used to have, and stressing yourself out about who you used to be when if you just put that energy into who you can become, you'd probably be better than who you used to be. It is not God's will that we keep on remembering the old things he wants us to forget. That's in the Bible. For a reason he says forget the former things and do not dwell. Do not dwell. You know what it means to dwell. It means to live. People call their homes their dwelling. That's where you live.
Lish:You know we cannot live in the past, whether good or bad. You know, sometimes we live in the past of how we look and we forget. We don don't realize we gaining weight. We gaining weight. Our skin is looking dry. We're not taking care of ourselves because in our minds we still think we look how we used to look and you're putting on clothes that could barely fit and they too tight and they too because, because you're dwelling on the past. You're living in the past. You know you're living in past hurts, things that happened to you when you were a child, things that happened to you when you were a teenager.
Lish:And I'm not by any means you know, we'll get back to this later but I'm not by any means saying that we should dismiss our past. But we really do have to ask ourselves do we serve a God who wants us to dwell on things that don't serve him Right? Does it serve God for you to dwell in a story that doesn't serve him? Does it make you better? Does it make you happier? If not, it's not God's will for your life. The Bible says he came so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. These things are real, and so for me, the first step to you know, stepping into a new season, the first step to really perceiving what God is doing in my life, is recognizing what I need to forget. The second thing and we're going to spend a little time on this is the crux to me of the scripture, which is what do I need to perceive differently?
Lish:Bible says now it springs up. Do you not perceive it? Do you know how hard it is to not see something that springs up, you have to actively not be paying attention. It doesn't say like, oh, it appears or something. If something springs up, think about it. Think about when you're walking past. You know a water installation and water is springing up or something just pops up from the floor. You see it. You see it easily. It is easy to see things that spring up.
Lish:It's hard to miss things that spring up. You have to be working hard to miss something beautiful that is springing up. But that's how the devil works, right, he works really hard to keep you stuck unhealed, you know, to keep your perception warped. How do I know he did it in the garden. Look at Adam and Eve. You have to work hard to be in a place of abundance and only see lack.
Lish:It's a perception, it's a mindset that you can be in a place where God is doing all this new beautiful stuff. Yet you are stuck in lack and when your perception is wrong, you make unwise decisions. You can't help it because you can't see the wisdom all around you. We all have people like this in our life, right? You ever been trying to talk to somebody and you see all this good stuff in them, all these beautiful things, all these beautiful things about them, all these opportunities that they could be going after, and they just can't see it. No matter what you say, they are stuck in a warped mindset and in a warped perception of themselves usually, or of their circumstances.
Lish:You know, if you want God to take you into a new season, if you feel like you're moving into a new season, I really want us to ask ourselves what do I need to perceive differently? I've been asking myself this question and for me and I don't even like saying this out loud I think I'm going to change the way I say it, because I don't really want to suffer. But I've been praying for God to change my relationship to hard things. I was praying at one point to change my relationship to suffering and I was like, let me stop praying that, for something crazy happened. But I did ask God. I have been asking God to change my relationship with difficulty. You know, my perception on difficulty was warped and can still be. At times when something seems too hard, I can do hard, but when it's getting too hard, I'm like, okay, well, this must not be what God wanted me to do, because it shouldn't be this hard, and that is the curse that's on the other side of the gift.
Lish:When things come easy to you, when things come easy to you, when things come naturally, when things come easily to you, when things come naturally to you, it is very difficult when something is not easy, when something is not natural, or when something is taking more of you than you think. You have more discipline, more time, more patience, more Christ likeness than you feel like you have to give. The temptation can be well. This must not be for me, and I have been, you know, through mentors, through friends, through conversations, really learning that my perception about doing difficult things has blocked me from seeing new things that God was doing in my life. You know, ask yourself what are the things that I perceive that are holding me back. You know Ephesians 4, 22 through 23,.
Lish:I love the scripture because it basically just tells us that, you know, we can be made new in the attitudes of our minds. I'm paraphrasing, but it says you know, you were taught, with regard to your former self, to put off your old self. Sorry, you were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires to be made new in the attitude of your minds. You know, we have the opportunity to be made new in the attitudes of our minds if we want to, and so there's so many things in my mind that I tell myself that I can do, can't do that, I'm worth that, I'm not worth that. I'm capable of, that I'm not capable of. And I've been really asking God to renew how I think.
Lish:Another scripture not, you know, unfamiliar to us Romans 12, 2, says do not conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. That's how we get transformed. It's something that I feel like God has been really like hanging on me about because, as we know, he knows exactly where he's taking me. I have some idea, you know where I'm going, but he knows exactly where he's taking me, and he's like baby girl. That mind that, your mindset, the way you think about things, it's not going to be able to sustain you. It has served you for where you have been. It's not going to be able to come with us where we're going, and so I've had to really get help and perspective from people who know me well about the parts of my mind that are not where God might want them to be.
Lish:You know, I want to do great things in the world. I want to be someone who is very clear about what God has them here to do, and I have felt that in different seasons of my life very clear about what God wants me to do. And I'm grateful for it because I know that. You know there are a lot of people who are like I just don't know. I just don't know. The truth about being clear on what God wants you to do is sometimes you can be so clear right that you don't see when the season is changing. It's not that he didn't want you to do that thing, it's just now he wants you to do something else. And so my desire, my heart, is to be so moldable in my perspective and my perceptions that I don't miss what is springing up. When God is doing something. That's very clear. A spring is very clear. It's very clear when something springs up very clear when something springs up. I don't want to be so focused to my right that if the spring is in my left, my peripheral can't even pick it up because I'm so focused on this thing right here and it's just something that I'm so convicted about. You know, I want to be able to perceive the new things that God wants to do in my life.
Lish:I talked a little bit earlier about this not being a season where, you know, I need to be explaining to people or asking people to come or begging people to get on board. And the truth of the matter is this season for me is a season for people who get it, for people who get it, people who get the privilege that it is to walk with me and I don't say that arrogantly because I'm a piece of work at times. All right, but I think for all of us, if the people in your life don't see it as a privilege to walk with you, they might not be your people Doesn't mean they're bad people. They might not be your people Doesn't mean they're bad people, just might not be your people, right? I think about my relationship with my husband. If he didn't see it as a privilege to date me, we wouldn't be married, wouldn't make him a bad person and make him a silly person. He's smart, that's why, you know, but a lot of men didn't see it as a privilege to walk with me, so they ain't here walking this privilege out with me, right, and so the same with friends, employers.
Lish:This is the season for people who get it. This is the season for people who don't need a whole lot of explanation and cajoling to be on board. This is the season for people who support you without you asking. This is the season for people who are consistent. You know I have strangers who give me so much encouragement, will send me two minute long voice notes, will send me, you know, paragraphs in my DMs just to say keep going. This is what helped me.
Lish:To me, this is the season to really embrace what actually works. And again, I'm not talking about cutting people off and being weird and all that. I'm just saying what your focus is on. What is my perception of what I'm doing and of the people in my life. You know, I think it has been so eye-opening for me to realize that I've spent a good portion of my life perceiving my achievements through the eyes of the lowest common denominator. What do I mean by that? We perceive our achievements by the lowest accolade or the lowest opinion of them.
Lish:At times, even when we don't know that we're doing that someone will give us some criticism or someone will not acknowledge at all what we're doing and we let that make us feel like, well, it must not have been that good, or it's not good enough, or maybe I should try harder, or, you know, this is not, I'm not good enough. You let that make it. You let that make you feel like you're not doing what God has ordained for you to do. And I just woke up one day, done with that. Honestly, I was just like, yeah, nah, we not doing that, we not doing that, no more.
Lish:This season is for the people who get it, for the people who are already running with me, alongside me, the people who encourage me, the people who show up for me. It's just that simple and since I made that decision, it's been such a freeing time because the truth is that is the majority of the people in my life, the majority of the people in my life are ride or die, and that is such a blessing to have my family, most of my friends, just really people who get it and who support what I do wholeheartedly, without me having to ask or beg, and I just really appreciate that. My husband, you know, is my biggest, biggest supporter, both behind the scenes, in front of the scenes, all the scenes. Right, he has me covered, spiritually covered, emotionally covered. It is something that I'm really remembering to be very grateful for, because the devil would love. Like I said, he's not doing anything different than what he did in the garden, right, he's not creative, he's just consistent.
Lish:His whole scheme is to get us to focus on the lack, to get us to focus on what's not working. Who's not supporting us? The opportunity we didn't get, the person that said no, the rejection, like that's his whole thing, to get us to focus on that. And so I've been real hard on myself about not allowing myself to focus on any lack. And when I tell you the second, I changed that. The level of abundance that has come over my life has been incredible. And that leads me to our third and final point takeaway that I've had for this, this, this area of my life, and it is what is the way and the stream that God is making for me.
Lish:Look for the abundance. Number three look for the abundance. You know the scripture says I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. I want you to look up wilderness and wasteland, because we read stuff like that and it's like, okay, he's making a way in the wilderness streams, in the wasteland? Okay, cool. No, a way in the wilderness streams in the wasteland? Okay cool, no, a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland is salvation? It's it's. It's saving you, it's giving you a way out. You know, if you feel like you're in a place of lack, you don't have everything you need. You don't have everything you want. I want you to look for the abundance, lean into what is flowing and what is growing.
Lish:If God is creating a way in the wilderness, why would you stay in the wilderness? But people do it all the time. There's a path that you could go down that will give you financial freedom, that will give you emotional and mental freedom, that will give you spiritual freedom. But instead of getting in your Bible to get that spiritual freedom and taking the people in your life who are saying, hey, come to this Bible study, hey, come to church with me, instead of taking them up on that offer, you're still wandering in the wilderness and wondering why you feel the way you feel. People offering you financial advice hey, I would love to get with you with this, or I would be happy to help you with this and instead of taking the way, you're still wandering in the wilderness and wondering why things aren't the way you want them to be. God has given you a gift, something that comes very naturally to you, that is very difficult for other people and instead of taking that way, you are wandering in the wilderness of a job you hate and a lifestyle that you can't maintain.
Lish:Lean into the abundance. I'm not saying it's easy. He doesn't say I will make a way and erase the wilderness. He said I'll make a way in the wilderness. So the temptation to stay in the wilderness will still be there. Come on, israelites. Right, it'll be there, but you have to decide.
Lish:I'm sorry, I'm getting preachy, I can't help it, but you have to decide to follow the way, to start walking down the way in the wilderness. And the reason I get so passionate about this is because I'm telling y'all what I know. See, a lot of times, when you see people who are following their dreams and who are successful, who you perceive to be successful, you think well, they're different than me, they're not different than you. They are fighting through the same fears, feelings, worries and concerns that you do, but you see them on the other side of persevering through it. And guess what? When you start persevering through things, when you start walking on the way through the wilderness and taking the streams in the wasteland, people will see you the same way because your life will be more abundant. You know, a stream in the wasteland Is is a way of giving you something to quench your thirst. Why would you stay thirsty if there's a stream? But we do it every day. God is giving you an option out, but you're afraid to take it and listen.
Lish:I know that everyone's not meant to be an entrepreneur, everyone's not meant to have a podcast. I'm not saying you got to do that, but what can you do? Look for the abundance in your life. You know, I got a little cousin who I love and I got to ask her permission so this might get edited out. But one of my little cousins, you know she I say little child she's grown honey, she's in college and she is working in a very great field, works for children, doing great things. She felt like she wanted a raise, she felt like she deserved a raise Only at her job for a couple months. You know, I love the audacity of Gen Z Audacious, I love it. She put together a proposal and baby girl got a raise, and not a little raise, honey, a big raise, because she saw abundance as her right.
Lish:Abundance is your right. It doesn't mean you won't go through times of lack, but that is not where God has you to stay. There's evidence of that all over the Bible. We don't even got time. There's evidence all over the Bible that God wants us to have great things, live in abundance, live life to the full, be healed. He wants us to be that way, but you got to look for it. You have to decide that you will turn your face from the wasteland, look at the path that God has given you to freedom and walk through it.
Lish:You know a big part of this for a lot of people is therapy. You know therapy is a way in the wilderness and a stream in the wasteland. Some of us have things we need to work through and it's keeping us in the wilderness, it's keeping us in the wasteland and we will not sit down with somebody once a week, once every two weeks, once a month, to start chipping away at the things that get this Satan is trying to use to keep you ineffective for God, is trying to use to keep you ineffective for God. If you don't heal, you can't help people heal. If you don't talk through your feelings, you will never be able to help anyone else work through their feelings right. And so, of course, the devil wants to keep you stuck, keep you unhealed, keep you bound by the things that have happened to you, keep you in the wilderness and keep you in the wasteland. But God is saying I am providing a different way for you.
Lish:Do you perceive it? You know, these are just three of the things, three of the things that I've learned from this scripture. You know number one like I said, what do I need to forget? What are the things that I'm stuck on mentally and emotionally that I need to forget? And let me tell you this you don't have to, just will your way out of forgetting it. I remember I was going through something one time and I started praying God, erase the memories, erase the feelings. This is over. That season of my life is over. It's very clear. I'm never going back to that situation.
Lish:Erase the feelings and pray this very specifically Erase the feelings that don't serve you or me. Ask God, lord, erase the feelings that don't serve you or me. There are certain feelings and lessons that God will never let me forget. You know why? Because they serve him. They make their way into sermons, they make their way into podcasts and content and bless people. Right, I don't mind remembering those things, even the things that are not so favorable, but the things that are quiet, that you don't ever use to testify, that you don't ever use to help anybody, they just keep you up at night, they just bring you to tears every time you think about it. They just bring your self-worth down every time you think about it. Yeah, those are the things you need to ask God to help you forget. Right, he's not a God that makes us will ourselves into doing things on our own. He's willing to help you forget. But you got to ask what are the things that I need to forget?
Lish:Number two what do I need to perceive or see differently? This is super important because, again, the new things are springing up. We have watched people pass us. You ever watch somebody. You know somebody. You grew up with, somebody, that you came up with, somebody you went to high school with, and you see them go to a certain place and you're like wait, what's going on? You know how did they get there? They perceived the new opportunity. Even though y'all were in the same place, they perceived that something different could happen for them, even though they were in the same place with you.
Lish:You know, be the person that perceives what God can do, that perceives how differently you think about things when you actually tap into how God wants you to see them. You know I referenced two scriptures Ephesians 4, 22 and 23, and Romans 12 too. But there are so many scriptures in the Bible about renewing our minds and renewing our perceptions and how we see things, and there are scriptures that don't even say that outright but allude to it. Get in your Bible. Get in your Bible. You know your mindset is not going to change, doing the same things you've been doing. I could do a whole and will do a whole episode about this. I speak to so many people who want to be different without doing anything different. Year after year, having the same conversations. You should read this book. The next year, same conversation. Did you ever read that book? No, I never got to it. You know, year after year. Did you ever listen to that song? No, but we find time to do everything else and I'm not trying to be judgmental, y'all.
Lish:I had to work on these things myself. I had to be behind on the season of Real Housewives, of fill in the blank, so that I could spend the time learning how to be good at the things that God has put on my heart to do Reading books, getting advice, getting with mentors the things that are different than what I was used to right, taking the time to be better will help you get better, and so ask God to help you understand what you need to perceive differently, what you may need to do differently, how you can dismiss old mindsets of self-sabotage or bad habits, laziness, things that just don't serve you. You know real quick. I'll tell a personal story, and I've said this on other episodes or in other content. But I really thought I was working very hard at my dream years ago, very hard in my mind, and I look at my lifestyle now and it's not to dismiss some of the great things that I did in the past, but I was not working as hard as I could have been working. You don't see it, until you actually change your mindset about what time you decide to get up, about how hard you decide to work, about how disciplined you decide to become, and there's still a lot of work that I have to do. There's still things I need to work on, you know, making sure that I am focused on the things that God has for me. But I've learned, with a change of mindset, that it's not as difficult to be successful as I thought it was, that it's not as difficult to be consistent as I thought it was. That is not as difficult to be consistent as I thought it was. That is not as difficult to be as disciplined as I want to be. You know, it is not as difficult as you think.
Lish:When you have a change of mind and, to be honest, you could listen to all the gurus you want. You could listen to all the podcasts you want, this one included A mind change comes from the Lord. A mind change comes from your time with the Lord. So I would encourage you, you know, as number two, to ask yourself what do I need to see or perceive differently and seek the Lord to do it? And then, last but not least, what is the way or the stream that God is providing for me? Look for the abundance. You know, take this time, as you're going into this new season, wherever you are, whenever you're watching this, to really focus your mind on the abundance.
Lish:What you see appears more often. I'm going to say that better what you look for appears more often. When you are looking for something, it's easier to find. That sounds simple, but the truth is a lot of times we are looking for God to change our lives, looking for something better, looking for something different, and yet we won't do what it takes to see abundance. You know, in order to see abundance, you have to believe that God can give it to you.
Lish:And people will often say you have to believe that you deserve it. You have to believe that you deserve it, yes or no. You know, if I need a new car, it's less about do I feel like I deserve a new car or do I know that I need a new car? About do I feel like I deserve a new car or do I know that I need a new car? Period, if I need, you know, new clothes, it's less. It's less about feeling like you deserve it. It's more about recognizing I need this and I need to do whatever it takes to get it. And once you learn that, you will see things very differently. You know when, when, when I talk about looking for abundance. If you only had to take away one thing. This is what I would want it to be. God is a God of abundance. It's who he is. He can't do nothing small. Even his small is big. Even God's small is big, and so it is his nature to overdo it. It's his nature to do his big one right, like that's his nature, and so look for the abundance you know.
Lish:I hope that this episode has been encouraging to you in some way. I hope that as you step into new territory, as you step into a new season of your life, you are able to see God's hand differently. I hope that you do your own Bible study on this and that you really figure out for yourself the three things right. Maybe three completely different things than the things I said. Those are the things that helped me, right. Three completely different things, but that you find for yourself how you can step into the newness that God has for you, how you can perceive the new thing that he wants to spring up in your life, and how you can allow him to use that thing for his own glory. You know, here at I'll Just Let Myself In like I said earlier, our whole premise is that God wants to let us through these doors, this whole idea of gatekeeping or, you know, I need a seat at the table. We made that up. God never needed anybody to give you anything. He will use people, but he does not need people, right? He's God. And so, in this season of your life, if you're praying for something new, stepping into something new, I hope that this encourages you to keep on stepping, keep on moving. You know we end the episode most of the time with the question in the grand scheme of things, what do you want your legacy to be? And when I think about this particular topic, you know I want my legacy to be this she always saw when God was ready to do a different thing and she was obedient. It is hard at times to be obedient when God wants to move you in a direction that is unfamiliar, uncharted territory, but there's always a reward to obeying God and walking in the direction that he wants you to walk in.
